Most of us associate Brussels with ponderous political posturing and top heavy administrational groups but the closer we get to the Christmas season the more my thoughts turn to sprouts. That’s right I said sprouts.
Probably the most polarising vegetable in the world, Brussels sprouts still remain a firm favourite on Christmas dinner menus across Ireland and the UK. With sprout season upon us we looked at different ways people approach their preparation- baked, grilled, blanched or fried it’s a super flexible vegetable with a big and manipulable taste and it’s ready portioned into perfect bite sized balls. I mean it’s natures greatest fast food. Always tasting best when not cooked into submission but just teased to a crunchy flavour explosion. And they are super healthy.
