Things have changed for the better for the Northern Ireland gay, lesbian, trans and bi-sexual community since they held their first Pride parade in Belfast in 1991. That year there were 100 people taking part. Last year there were over 50,000 people involved and this year they are celebrating 25 years of pride with a 10 day festival beginning on the 24th July and running till 2nd August. Following the momentous vote in the Republic on 22 May ushering in marriage equality in the South the organisers are hoping for a huge turnout this year as they host an impressive array of events aimed at involving the entire family- If you are in the vicinity check it out. Hopefully the weather will play ball and the only rainbows visible will be decorative.
