Tips for Keeping the little ones busy over the Christmas Holidays:
Wine Cork Reindeer
- Gather your materials - you will need 2 - 4 wine corks, small twigs from the garden, glue, markers, scissors, small ribbons or craft bells
- Mark and cut small holes in the corks to fit the twigs
- Cut your tiny swigs to size for 4 legs, 1 neck and 2 antlers
- Glue the twigs into the small holes made in the cork
- Add your small red nose and bell, use the marker to add eyes to your reindeer!
- Using left over ribbon from presents, create a small bow or scarf for around the reindeer's neck
- Repeat and make your reindeers some friends!
Santa logs
Instead of using all your logs in the fire this year why not put a few to the side to make these adorable Santa Claus logs with the kids!
- Find some appropriate dry logs and get an adult to cut them flat at the bottom and at an angle at the top like the images below (do a few various sizes)
- If you like, you can sand them to create a smoother look (or leave them rustic!)
- Using paint or paint pens create Santas face with Red and white, you can even add a little button nose!
- Find a space in your house or garden to display your beautifully created Christmas decorations
Scrap ribbon Christmas trees
You know when you get those beautifully wrapped gifts with ribbons and bows, don't forget to save them for an occasion like this to create cute hanging ornaments for your Christmas tree
- Gather all your ribbons, a styrofoam cone or a stick
- For creating the image on the left, using glue stick your ribbons onto the styrofoam cone in a pattern like below to turn it into your very own mini-Christmas tree
- If you don't have a styrofoam cone, use a stick and tie your ribbons onto it like below, once tied cut them into a shape of a christmas tree and add a string at the top, there you have it, a decoration for the tree!
Sock snowman
Have you too many pairs of fluffy socks that you just don’t use? Why not make them into cute sock snowmen this Christmas with the kids!
- Start by filling your white sock with rice. You will need quite a large amount of rice so be prepared!
- When youre happy with the size of your snowman tie the top with an elastic band, take another band and place it in the middle (upper side) to form the head shape. You can add a third band if you want Olaf!
- Using a hot glue gun, glue buttons of your choice to the bottom half
- Draw the mouth and eyes on with black marker
- Using leftover patterned cosy socks, cut them into long strips for the scarves and cut the toe section of the sock to make into a little hat for the snowmen
- Using orange string or an orange marker if you dont have any string, create the snowmans little carrot nose
- Your snowman is now ready to face Christmas!
